  • First Week, but week 1940

I can’t believe I’ve been alive 1940 weeks, but this is the first time in a long time, maybe even the actual FIRST time, but I feel more productive and successful personally than I ever have felt.  Just by tracking and documenting this has helped me wake up a lot and be front of time.

I’ve decided to adopt the KETO diet again… The last time I did it I dropped 70 lbs… I’m not as heavy I was I the last time, but I’m easily 40lbs heavier than when I ‘got busy’ and this week I’ve been 100% keto and tracked all my calories in… Killin it!

This blog is for me more than anyone else, but it’s my accountability and I’m running with it.  Goal update info time; I made a SCORECARD for my life. Why I haven’t thought of that before I have no idea. I’m a data guy, the scorecard has made great strides with my business why wouldn’t I have one for myself.  The things in the first column of my scorecard are: Current Weight, Current Body Fast % (height method), Calories In/Out, Cash Balace (Debt vs cash), Investment Value.  These things align with my goals as previously discussed likely to add a few things.  But I’ve built other sheets where I just enter basic data each week and it’ll calculate for me.  A nice review and nice progress to the forward growth.

Regarding my personal time, I don’t have a way of tracking that, but I was home by 5pm all but one day this week and only got called out one late night.  Being home early gives me time for walks and to make food, not eat out.  We also moved the rest of our office this week, fuck that’s a lot of work.  I hate moving and do wish I was in a tech business instead of blue collar, I feel like there would be a lot less to move!

There’s a good chance I’ll be the president of our local madd chapter in the coming weeks.  I debate this in a previous post and still debating personally however, my busienss donates a lot of time and energy to this cause already.  I also beleive that I can build and obtain new local relationships that’ll help me both personally and my business continue to grow.  Self serving, maybe but it’s a great message and I stand behind it 100%.  It’s almost counter intuitive to my business as we make money off of impaired drivers.  That being said, I still truly believe that it isn’t worth the risk, and my lift, my families life, my friends lives, my employees lives are at risk from every impaired driver, so I would just rather they don’t.  Maybe by 2035 the government and auto manufacturers will have pulled their heads out of their ass and find some way to manage this from a tehcn perspective rather than having all of these risks.

Sam Parr of My First Million podcast often talks about how we will look back in the future, say 10-50 years from now and be amazed at the things we did.  He’s referened cancer, and how in a few years we’ll likely be looking back not understanding why or how we let cancer grow in our bodies without us know.  Or, that it might be crazy to think the only thing keeping us from crashing into each other at 100km/h (60) is a couple inches of yellow paint on the roadsurface.

I truly belive that ‘impaired driving’ will be one of those things that isn’t very far off.  10ish years we’ll be looking back thinking, “I can’t believe that 10 years ago we used to drive around knowing there was a chance the driver passing us or potentially coming oncoming at us was impaired.”  It’s less and less socially acceptable, but I can tell you from personal experience (my business deals with them every day), there are still all walks of life that are getting caught driving impaired.

At the beginning of this post I had no idea what to write, I opened a blank page and thought “wtf am I gonna write about.”  It truly is amazing what can come out of one’s brain just by letting it flow.

    Cheers!

  • Shout Out!

Reviewing all the things I did a year ago, along with this.

I started a X.com account and it has more followers than the one I started and was active on since 2009… WOWZERS!

Shout of to my PA, killing it she is!

This blog, reading what I wrote a year ago speaks to me more than anything I do day to day.

Short post, long post, I don’t know what belongs on this page BUT here I am… Posting on X.com, where my vents, frustrations, in the moment thoughts will go, and this will be where my weekly updates go.  I’ll likely update this but what I would like to update weekly on is:

    • Goal Progress
      • Defining ‘Retirement by 40’, no reason I can’t get that done this week
      • Tracking weekly calories, should be able to have some numbers
      • Progress on fitness, even if just brief updates, keeping me honest
      • Personal Time, getting more of it
    • Any biz changes in any that I’m involved in

I’m sure there will be more but that’s all…

The local Gun Club got my attendance for the first time since COVID… That’s some personal time for me, love it!

  • How busy is too busy?

Do you even find yourself so focused that you think you are an entirely different path and have things to change.  Your day is productive, you make so many changes that you’re on a new path to life.

The next day hits you in the face and you’re right back to your old ways completely losing your path?  Here I am.  I got some thought about writing a blog, or journal during some quiet time this weekend that I registered a new domain name to do this, hubernews.ca.  After I registered I thought I should check my list of domains for clarity.  Low and behold, matthuber.ca is there, hmm I wonder what’s there?  Holy shit… yup, fuck!

This is the journal I started, this is the thing I wanted to do almost one year ago… Makes me think I was here for that same reason, at this point in my day and life.  Wow, just fucking wow.

For clarity sake for you, my reader, I am writing this for me.  There’s some hope that it provides you some value but it’s purpose is for me.  I don’t focus enough on me, and chances are you don’t focus enough on you.  So, here I am writing.  First, I re read my post from sept 4, 2023, then I read it again, and I read it again…  Now I’m going to read it EVERY DAY for a month because I need to do this, almost a year apart I trip over the same thought, so here we are.

Let first do a quick flash of the last post and updates from it.

Reference from the last post Things I need to do:

Fix My Time… haha well fuck, haven’t done that yet, but I feel as though I’m finally here and able too… I recently read, and re-read a book by Dan Martell “Buy Back Your Time”… Spoke to me, and now people at work know it as ‘my bible.’  More about that later, but lets do a brief update.

    1. Not for profits:

    • MS Society – Stepped down, unofficially, but the only time I’ve spend on MS in the past year is the 2 day event. :check mark:
    • CPRN – A whole 2 days this year at a fund raiser and have only even completed one exec meeting, can likely increase this a bit more to keep it alive, otherwise it’s basically on hold until I have more time.
    • MADD – I saw value in it, I still do, and now it seems as though I’m stepping up to create more value.  Likely president of local chapter in the coming weeks.
    • CarShowNFP – Shut down, in final efforts of doing so, my time back, :check mark:

    2. My Biz’

    • TowCo – We contracted, we terminated, we reset at a leadership level.  We started with EOS about a week after my last post and I haven’t spoken enough about it.  Finally profitable after nearly 12 months of burning money.  This is still my biggest time suck, but on the right path, building process for the teams to make their lives simple.
    • ConsultingCo – reduced to 30 minutes/month, good, but may dissolve it if I can hand off the final pieces so someone who will enjoy it.  Or perhaps I’ll hand off to my assistant
    • GroupCo – No action here, low on my list, clearly low on all the partners list, no hard no foul
    • TrainingCo – This is moving, my team is making progress, low on the list still, but making progress
    • MarketCo – Continuing, but nothing crazy, so not a whole lot to report

Taking a moment to look at this, little to no action or death of 6 of the above 9 items.  Likely all little time sucks or stress’ that don’t need to be there… Mental note.

    3. Set Life Goals

Holy shit, reading my previous post it makes me sad… I’m a year older and I have not actioned any of it.  I got busy, and because I wrote it down I checked it off.  The book ‘the bible’ of Buy Back Your Time by Dan Martell has told me to focus more on myself than work.  It has also pushed me to use my assistant to do better with my time and to get more done in less time.  I’m learning, I truly am.  I have unload a lot off my plate to my PA (personal assistant) but have a long way to go.  These goals are still the main goal… What a wake up call, I love that I’m reading this, and will make time to read this.  It’s in my calendar for 30 minutes every day!  EVERY FUCKING DAY!

    1. Retire by 40… Not going to happen, I can accept that, but I should have SIGNIFICANTLY more time by then.
      1. Determine Retirement (yeah no shit, gotta do that)
      2. Understand as defined what it means and make a plan to get there
    2. Lose weight, get in shape, whatever, DO BETTER…  Have to start posting these results and progress, okay so here’s public goals
      1. Post weekly progress
      2. Track ALL calories consumed
      3. Work out of some form every day, walk, lift weights, run, crazy call at work, SOMETHING
    3. Time, my bloody time!  Progress has been made in the not for profits, but this needs to continue with delegation at work!  More to come!

Okay, running away, I’ll be back!  Not in a year, at MOST a week!
